The American West

The west is the beauty of the desert, of the stone when it goes, a thousand and one way to heaven, Utah, Nevada and Colorado. Through the Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park, Death Valley, Yosemite National Park, you will be dazzled by the revelation of a great West. From the tranquility and charm of San Francisco to the madness of Las Vegas, the refinement of the major museums to the glitter of Hollywood, the calm forests, to the adrenaline of an helicopter flight over the Grand Canyon, this is the charm of the American West.

Day 2 – Los Angeles

Breakfast at hotel and departure for a guided tour of the city of Los Angeles:

Los Angeles is a chaos, no landmark in what appears to have neither center nor limit. A walk through the old quarter of the city center is a living history lesson on American urbanism. You can admire spectacular examples of Art Deco design. The downtown Los Angeles has changed dramatically since the height restrictions were removed and the adoption of the construction technology anti earthquake.

ImageImageHollywood, once an important center for citrus fruit, bananas and vegetables is today the center of the entertainment industry and movies The Hollywood sign, known worldwide with its letters of 1we 6 meters high – the Mann’s Chinese Theater, built in 1927 in honor of the Chinese decorative art by Sid Grauman - Hollywood Walk of Fame with the names of famous and less famous show business personalities engraved on bronze stars.

ImageExplore the beaches: Venice remains a bohemian city par excellence, elected by artists but also by marginal of all kinds – Santa Monica, industrial city is also the main resort of Los Angeles – Beverly Hills is the place of residence of the wealthy people. Shopping on Rodeo Drive is truly high class. The Beverly Wilshire Hotel serves tea in its lobby overlooking the frenzy outside business activities.

Day 3 – Los Angeles – Laughlin

Breakfast and departure along one of the busiest freeways in California – Freeway 15 – Crossing Victorville where many westerns were filmed movies. Continuation of the road through a portion of the Mojave Desert is also called High Desert.

Lunch: Restaurant – Barstow

Check in Laughlin, located on the banks of Colorado River.

Diner: Restaurant Hotel

Day 04 – Laughlin – Seligman – Grand Canyon National Park – Flagstaff

Breakfast and departure for the discovery of the Grand Canyon National Park Lunch: Buffet Squire Inn – Grand Canyon

ImageArrival at Grand Canyon National Park. The Grand Canyon evokes a “space-time” disconcerting as fathomless. Humility and amazement inspired the Grand Canyon are inextricably intertwined. This is a geology textbook, an archaeological museum, a paleontology laboratory.

From there, continue to Flagstaff.

Day 05 – Flagstaff – Monument Valley – Page – Kanab

ImageBreakfast then head to reach Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park. The image of these natural monuments carved into the rock, fragile monoliths lost in an infinite horizon, has become the universal symbol of the American West with its wild hills, huge stacks of sandstone, its glowing draperies and solitary columns.

ImageThis is accompanied by Navajo guides in their special vehicles that you drive on the slopes of red sand between giant monoliths of more than 300 meters high.

Lunch: During visit to the heart of Monument Valley

Following lunch, you will continue on to Page – Lake Powell through the Painted Desert, the landscape almost lunar wilderness alternating bands of pastel pink sand, yellow and gold, blue and gray rocky badlands, desolate hills streaked with black and white. The Lake Powell is one of the most beautiful landscapes of the Far West. Stop at Carl Hayden Visitor Center, beautiful view of Lake Powell and the dam.

Discover Horseshoe Bend, surrounded by a red sandstone outcrop, a meandering Colorado River emerald green offers an amazing spectacle.

Check in Kanab, this small town is also known as “The Little Hollywood.”

Day 06 – Kanab – Bryce Canyon National Park

Breakfast and departure to Bryce Canyon National Park, probably the most beautiful of all U.S. parks.

Sunset Point and Sunrise Point which owe their name to the beauty of light at dawn and at sunset.

Lunch: Ruby’s Cafeteria – Bryce City

Continuation of the discovery of this beautiful national park

Diner: Ebenezer Steakhouse – Western atmosphere

Accommodations: Bryce View Lodge – Bryce City or similar

Day 07 – Bryce Canyon – Zion National Park – St George – Las Vegas

ImageAfter Breakfast, depart Bryce Canyon for a scenic drive to Zion National Park famous for its colorful landscape and its impressive canyons and then arrival at St George, a small town founded by Mormons.

Lunch: Golden Corral Buffet – St Georges

Continuation of the road in the direction of arrival in Nevada and Las Vegas, the city sparkles like a dream in the middle of the Mojave Desert, a place where reality mixes with fantasy, a destination of tangible and intangible magic that makes the notion time quite relative.

Day 08 – Las Vegas – Death Valley – Bakersfield

ImageThis morning, enjoy breakfast at your hotel. After breakfast visit Death Valley National Park. Vast expanse burned by the sun, interspersed with canyons is the largest national park in the United States except Alaska. The altitude varies between 3300 meters Mount Telescope to 86

meters below sea level near Badwater.

Day 09 – Bakersfield – Sequoia National Park – Modesto

ImageEnjoy a Breakfast at your hotel and departure for the discovery of Sequoia National Park, the park stretches of undulating foothills of the San Joaquin Valley in the west to the peaks of the Sierra Nevada. Vegetation, hosts a wild flora and fauna of a prodigious variety. The curiosity of the park is the Giant Sequoia, a very high density in Giant Forest.

Following lunch, you will continue on to Modesto, a small town founded in 1871 by the Central Pacific.

Day 10 – Modesto – San Francisco

Its mild climate, its elegant Victorian and modern architecture and its bustling economic activities are the cultural and economic hub of a vast geographic area.
